June 25, 2011 - The Lake Nottely Improvement Association recently enjoyed their annual picnic at the Poteete Creek Pavilion. Besides lots of delicious food, friendly faces, beautiful weather, movie set landscapes, and a summer lakeside breeze, informative guest speakers from the Sheriff’s Department and DNR gave short talks.
During the picnic, Lynn Varian showed samples of signs that are available for purchase thru LNIA. These markers, as proved during recent tornado emergencies at Lake Burton, are a great help to 911 workers during emergencies such as natural disasters (and during 911 crime reports).
Signs should be sturdy enough to withstand high winds. They can be attached to posts, docks, or boat houses. Signs should be readable when viewed from a boat in the daylight and at night.
During the lakeside meeting, new (and returning) officers were installed for the upcoming year. New officers, board members, and committee chairs for 2011-2012 are Lynn Varian - President, A.G. Sherman - Vice President, Diane Dominick – Treasurer, Lori Yoboni – Secretary/Membership, Jan Boland – Publicity, Henry and Diane Dominick – Logistics, Sue Boris – Newsletter, Carolyn Veazey - Board, Mike Mekas - Board, Denver Gammons - Board, Dan Malte - Board, and Barry Varian – Board.
LNIA welcomes new members. If you own a business on Lake Nottely, or want to help make the lake the best it can be, join the Lake Nottely Improvement Association! Members have lots of fun, enjoy one of Union County’s greatest resources, and give back to the community in which they live.
