thrilled with Pat's submission.
The colorful and fun watercolor
painting has really captured
our vision. She has included
the lake, a patriotic theme,
and lovely homes. We will
use it on all of our print
and digital advertising
to showcase the tour, the
sponsors, and Pat's talent."

February
2009 - Several Union
County 501c(3) charities
applied to receive funds raised
by the "Celebrate
the Lake"
Spring Tour of Lake Nottely
Homes.
Congratulations
to THE WILDERNESS SCOUTS
and THE WHISKERS PROJECT
who tied for first place. With
their permission, the
Board will present 70%
of the profits to the
two and 30% will be divided
among other charities.
Included are Union County's
S.A.F.E./Enotah Child
Advocacy Center, North
Georgia SPCA, Friends
of the Union County Library,
the Humane Society's Mountain
Shelter, Hollywoodreamz,
and Castaway Critters.
Pam
Thomsen, treasurer of
the WHISKERS PROJECT,
said "We
were excited to be chosen
and are happy to share
with the other organizations.
All of us are experiencing
a drop in donations so
this fundraising event
is a Godsend to each group."
"Since 2003,
WHISKERS has spayed, neutered
and vaccinated over 1000
feral cats. Our
mission is is to stop
the overpopulation of
outdoor kittens whose
mortality rate is over
50%. We trap, neuter,
return (TNR) and offer
financial assistance to
needy community members
for spay/neuter so you can see how
high our cost can be.
Thanks to LNIA, United
Community Bank and the
Chamber for putting this
fundraiser together." The
Whiskers Project has put
together a gift basket
worth over $200.00 for
the Tour Raffle!
In
1970 Harold Cornwell
formed the WILDERNESS
SCOUTS to help
local children
and selected elderly (who
have little or no family
support). Wilderness Scouts
has been called "one
of the most unselfish
humanitarian organizations
ever formed" and
has helped large numbers
of local children. Mr.
Cornwell has asked for
help with operating funds.
He and some of his 'kids'
are busily making blue
bird houses to offer as
raffle items.
Tickets for the Tour
are $25.00 and INCLUDE
5 free raffle tickets.
